A Chipata businessman has shot his 19 year old son with a short-gun who later died due to gunshot wounds.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Alex Chilufya in an interview with Radio Maria News today says the father got angry when he saw his child putting on his mother’s pair of trousers.
Mr Chilufya says the man allegedly turned the gun on the child wounding him but later succumbed to the wounds and died.
He says Police initially treated the case as an attempted murder but has now turned it into murder after the death of the son.
Mr Chilufya says the suspect had also initially indicated that he was going to hand himself to Police but has not yet done so and that officers are now pursuing his whereabouts.
Meanwhile, some neighbours and close family members in a separate interview with Radio Maria disclosed the name of the deceased child as Martin Mwale, a Grade 12 pupil at a named school and the suspected man as Martin Mwale.
They say the incident happened last night around 21:00 hours at their residence in Kapata Township after the suspect found his wife having an argument with the son.
The neighbours allege that it was during this time that Mr Mwale threatened to deal with the boy and got hold of his gun and shot his son below the abdomen.
